Want to join in some fall book talk? Here are three chances to join me this month for scary stories, mystery, and a serious look at how we write the past.
Saturday, October 24, 8:00-9:00 p.m. PT: Sacramento Noir: Mayhem in the Capital
At SF Lit Crawl, Red Poppy Art House, 2698 Folsom St, San Francisco. Seven authors from 2025’s award-winning Sacramento Noir anthology read unsettling tales of capital crimes and misdemeanors, moderated by Naomi Williams. Come for the spine-tingling stories; stay for some fun audience giveaways! View the Lit Crawl schedule.
Thursday, October 29, 4:00-5:00 p.m. PT: Writing with Integrity about the Past
A Women’s Fiction Writing Association (WFWA) webinar on writing historical fiction for today’s modern reader. I join authors Joan Fernandez, Jody Hadlock, and Terri Lewis to ask whether putting 21st-century voices in historical figures’ mouths is inclusion or a new form of erasure. Details coming soon.
Thursday, October 29, 6:00-8:00 p.m. PT: Mysteries and Mayhem
At The Paperworks, 1115 Front Street, Old Sacramento, presented by Wild Sisters and the Death by Natural Causes Exhibit. I’ll moderate James L’Etoile, Elena Taylor, and Claire Booth on the thrill of mystery writing and the mayhem that comes with being a successful author. Each ticket includes a copy of James L’Etoile’s Darkness Falls, exhibit admission, the panel and Q&A, signing lines, and photo opportunities. Buy tickets here.
